For coaches

To ensure the safety and well-being of our players and to comply with Tennessee State Soccer Association requirements, all MSA volunteers must complete a criminal background check and a few important training courses before being assigned to a team.  For the 2025-26 year, TSSA has streamlined the compliance process by bringing all the requirements together in one, easy-to-use location within the U.S. Soccer Learning Center.

Here's how it works:

  1. Register to serve as a coach or assistant coach within Sports Connect.
  2. Once you're registered, we'll send you a link to join the MSA group in the Learning Center.
  3. Log in to the Learning Center.
  4. In the middle of the screen, you'll see three white boxes.  Click on the SAFE SOCCER button.

  1. Complete the training required for Phases 1 and 2.
  2. Submit your background check authorization, which constitutes Phase 3.

(Please note that the background check can take up to two weeks to complete, so we urge coaches to submit their authorization as soon as possible.)

Importantly, please make sure your Learning Center account uses the same information (legal name, e-mail address, etc.) as you've used in Sports Connect.
